In this interview, we talk about how Lior Neu-ner came up with the idea for Remote Rocketship, a cool job-search website. He made it because his wife had trouble finding good job info.
Lior Neu-ner explains how he built the website and started it all by themselves. We also learn how Remote Rocketship got noticed on Reddit and hear about the ways they've grown the business. It's a simple and interesting journey from the start to where they are now.
I made Remote Rocketship during my wife's job search. She was frustrated with existing job boards because they either didn’t have enough jobs (because companies need to pay to list their openings) or they didn’t have good information/filters on the companies.
To solve this, I scrape recruiting sites like Workable, Greenhouse and Lever where most job openings are hosted. I then parse them for useful information such as salaries and hiring location. I then combine this with more useful information I scrape online about the companies e.g. funding, company size.
The result is that I have a lot more open positions on my site than most other job boards! Making for a much better experience for job-seekers.
Nextjs + tailwind + supabase + ChatGpt for the data extraction!
Its just me!
Initially launched on Reddit and got lots of traction there

SEO still.
🤷🏻♂️ Still haven’t found anything. I’ve tried a few things here and there (like AHRefs), but didn’t find it worthwhile.
B2C subscription. Job seekers need to pay to access jobs on the site
$6,000 MRR. Monthly expenses are roughly $500 – $300 of which is for scrapingbee.com, the API I used to scrape job sites.
